When is it considered unsafe to ride a motorcycle?

Riding a motorcycle during severe weather conditions, such as rain or snow, is considered unsafe primarily due to the increased risks associated with reduced traction and visibility. Wet roads can lead to skidding, and snow or ice greatly diminishes grip, making it difficult to control the motorcycle. Additionally, adverse weather can reduce visibility for both the motorcyclist and other road users, increasing the likelihood of accidents.

Riding at night, during peak traffic hours, or only on highways presents challenges but doesn't inherently make riding unsafe in the same way that severe weather does. Night riding can be managed with proper lighting and caution, while peak traffic can be navigated with awareness and skill. Highways are designed for high-speed travel, and with experience, many riders may feel comfortable there, so they are not universally unsafe. In contrast, severe weather significantly impacts safety and control, making it the most clear-cut reason to avoid riding a motorcycle.
